State Licensing Requirements for Mental Health Counseling

This program is designed to provide the content required by the State of Indiana, as well as various other states.

For students completing your program of study online, Butler is only permitted to enroll you if:

  1. You live in a state where Butler’s program meets the licensure requirements for employment OR
  2. You voluntarily complete an attestation form saying you’ve been made aware of the requirements, that Butler’s program does not meet those requirements, and you still wish to enroll in the program.

There are several reasons why you might wish to complete the voluntary attestation form. These include:

  • You live in a state that does not meet the requirements, but you are licensed by and work in a state where the program does meet the requirements.
  • You live in a state where the program does not meet the requirements, but you plan to move to and live in a state where the program does meet the requirements.
  • You prefer Butler’s program and have carefully reviewed the additional requirements that will need to be completed to meet requirements in a state, and wish to complete those additional requirements in addition to Butler’s program.

For more information on licensure disclosures and completing the Voluntary Attestation form, please see the program licensure disclosures page.
